SCHF is a 501(c)(3) charitable foundation that serves the specific needs of southern California residents facing life limiting illnesses, regardless of their ability to pay. All donations are tax deductible.
Some people choose to make donations in honor of family or friends who have passed away. This is such a beautiful expression to the bereaved family of your respect and love. SCHF will acknowledge your gift with kind words to the family. Please enclose a note with the name and address of all you would like acknowledged with your check.
Your generous and unselfish gift will be used to help real people in your local area. Major programs that SCHF supports include:
- Funding the needs of people who are terminally ill, but unable to afford hospice care. This is done regardless of which hospice company is chosen by the family to best fill the needs of their loved one.
- Community education programs aimed at the public at large to familiarize them with what resources are available to them when the need for palliative or hospice care arises.
- Angels on Wheels is a program designed to assist in the transportation needs of people living at home, coping with life limiting illness. This may be anything from a ride to the doctor to a trip to the beach.
- Assisting with specific, special needs of people in our community suffering from a catastrophic illness. Families may need a celebration or a time of relaxation. We can assist with a day at a local theme park or a birthday party. Sometimes the needs are as fundamental as food, rent or heat for a cold bedroom. Any number of things can be done to remove a little bit of the stress that is overwhelming these families.
- Scholarships geared for physicians and nurses to encourage them to pursue knowledge and expertise in the area of palliative care medicine.
Please make your check payable to Southern California Hospice Foundation. Enclose any information you wish regarding who you are remembering. You will promptly receive verification and a tax deduction slip in return mail.
